– Why should I get accreditation?

Accreditation is a compulsory condition for health establishments which provide or do not provide services in relation to the public health insurance system, with the exception of family medicine practices, Dental medical cabinets and medical cabinets in the specialized ambulance organized pursuant to Government Ordinance no. 124/1998 on the organization and functioning of medical cabinets, republished, as amended and supplemented, and Company Law no 31/1990, republished, as amended and supplemented, as well as medical analysis laboratories and pathological anatomy.

– How accreditation is valid?

The accreditation certificate is valid for a period of 5 years.

– When should I register for a new cycle of accreditation?

Registration for the next accreditation cycle must be made one year before the accreditation certificate expires.

– What does it mean to monitor a health unit?

The monitoring of the sanitary units represents the follow-up of the level of implementation of the management system of the quality of the health services and of the patient safety, based on the methodology approved by the Board of Directors of ANMCS.

– When can accreditation be suspended ?

The suspension of accreditation may be decided, in the monitoring process, if deviations from good clinical and managerial practices have been found in a healthcare unit, which could see serious consequences in terms of patient safety . An unit is supported by ANMCS to find solutions and to correct deficiencies within the six months. During this period ANMCS closely monitor how it is working to correct deficiencies that caused the suspension of accreditation, the health unit continues to function. In case that the unit does’t succed ti solve his problems in this period, the accreditation is withdraw.

– Can I lose my accreditation?

Withdrawal of the accreditation of a health unit can be made following the re-evaluation process. It presupposes that during the validity period of the accreditation, ANMCS verifies, on its own initiative, at the request of the health units or at the request of the competent bodies, the level of compliance of the health unit with the requirements on the basis of which the accreditation was granted.

– What can happen if I don’t obtain the accreditation certificate?

A unit that has not obtained the accreditation certificate within the legal term cannot conclude a contract with the Health Insurance House.
