Approximately 700 participants in the first ANMCS COURSE for improving medical practice
The second series of the ANMCS COURSE “Clinical risks associated with psychotropic medication and adverse effects associated with psychiatric care induced by nonpsychotropic medication” in Module I. Clinical risk management, ended today, July 23. In total, 675 health professionals enrolled in both series of the first ANMCS COURSE. Of the total number of participants about 70% were doctors. The course was also attended by pharmacists, psychologists, nurses, those responsible for quality management in hospitals, as well as health service surveyor. Precisely as a result of the large number of requests, the first ANMCS COURSE, free of charge, credited by Romanian College of Physicians, held online, had two series (Series A between June 9-12, and Series B, between July 20-23).
During the 4 days, the participants were extremely interested in the topics presented, being in permanent interaction with the lecturers.
The online educational program was coordinated by Acad. Prof. Univ. Dr. Dragoș Marinescu, who was also a lecturer in the course, from the team, and Prof. Univ. Dr. Laurențiu Mogoantă; Chief of works Dr. Ileana Marinescu; Reader Univ. Dr. Olivian Stovicek.
Among the topics presented in the 4 days of the course, we can list: Comorbidities associated with patients with severe psychiatric disorders and increased risk for severe complications in the context of viral infections – focus COVID19; News in clinical psychopharmacology. The quality of pharmacological management – determining factor of therapeutic strategies; Pharmacological management of adverse events associated with the medical act. Identification, classification, risk factors . The program for the course “Clinical risks associated with psychotropic medication and adverse effects associated with psychiatric care induced by nonpsychotropic medication” was identified as a result of readers’ desire to improve the effectiveness of therapeutic strategies with diminished adverse effects. Also, the situation created by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in the case of patients with mental disorders who constitute a population at major risk for the current COVID 19 pandemic, was another issue identified by readers and presented and discussed with participants. Particularities of patients’ vulnerabilities and negative effects of the use of antiviral medication, as well as specific prophylaxis measures were presented.
Among the results proposed as a result of this educational program are: the acquisition of fundamental elements of pharmacology and clinical psychopharmacology; clinical recognition of the side effects induced by psychotropic medication and their pathogenesis; learning some general principles of medical care for patients with major psychiatric disorders in the COVID pandemic19, the evolutionary risks but also the long-term psychiatric consequences, postpandemic.
The online courses organized by ANMCS will be continuous with topics of interest from other medical specialties.
